Students are welcome to participate in Survey on “soft skills”

Have you ever heard about soft skills? Do you think you have sufficient and well developed soft skills? Does the curriculum of your university offers separate courses or methods to develop soft skills? We would like to hear your opinion!

Six universities from Latvia, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland and Austria are implementing Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership project which aims to elaborate different study and teaching materials for development of interdisciplinary or so called “soft skills” of the students. At the moment we are organising survey to gather the opinion from students in Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, Austria, Poland and the Netherlands.

With this survey we would like to know your opinion about interdisciplinary or soft skills. We invite to participate in this survey students from different study fields and levels. You don’t have to be an expert - we will be grateful if you dedicate 5 minutes to answer some simple questions about your skills and about what you would like to learn more.

Your answers will help us to improve study process and programs in our universities and will give us better understand what study materials we need to develop.

Here is the link to survey, it will take you not more than 5 minutes: www.visidati.lv/aptauja/1545063545/

ERASMUS+ project for development of interdisciplinary and soft skills of students started in autumn 2019!

In September 2019 Turiba University in cooperation with 5 partner Universities from Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland and Austria has started to implement Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership project which aims to elaborate different study and teaching materials for development of interdisciplinary and soft skills of students.

Nowadays communication, teamwork, cooperation conflict management – so called soft skills – are very important for any professional in any field. Experience shows that very often students lack those interdisciplinary skills. Only rarely there are specific courses tackling those these topics and skills and also there is a lack of training materials which academics can use in the study process in order to train those skills of students.

This Erasmus+ project will focus on ability of students to cooperate for team work, set professional and academic goals by means of modern coaching, time management skills and efficient planning, multicultural communication and conflict diagnostics and conflict management. These skills are crucial for to be able to efficiently study in universities of the modern world. Curriculums of universities do not offer separate course to tackle this problematics. Moreover these skills are required not only during academic studies, but even after graduation to be prepared for professional life challenges. Therefore a goal is set to create inter-faculty study materials for the students from Law, Business, Communication and other Social science faculties in order to increase these skills and the university teachers could widely access such study materials.

The main aim of the project is to develop and implement innovative practices – elaboration of interdisciplinary study materials and tools (including mobile application) for students and teachers of different faculties.

The main results will be video lectures, study materials, mobile phone application for daily studies, reading materials and self-study materials. In frame of the project partners will also train the students and trainers.

The first project meeting just took place in Riga, Turiba University on 9.10.2019.
